How The Book Swap Works

Our book swaps are all about the cozy, casual vibes. They're designed to feel like a social event where you just happen to be surrounded by books. Here's how it works:

  1. Bring 1–3 gently pre-loved books you’ve already read or are ready to pass along. Any genre is welcome! The only rule: bring books in good condition (something you’d feel good lending to a friend).

  2. When you arrive, drop your books at the swap table (look for signage!), then grab a drink, browse, and start picking your next read.

  3. To keep it fair, please take home the same number of books you brought. In the last hour, we’ll open it up to grab extras from what’s left.

Note: Most books* left over after the event get distributed to little free libraries around the area.

Shop the Pop-Up

While you’re there, explore our curated collection of new and used books, “Blind Date with a Book” surprises, and bookish merch.

Enjoy 10% off your Lost The Plot purchase when you show proof of purchase from our host venue (a drink, snack, or meal). Purchases aren’t required, but do help keep these community events going!

---

Lost The Plot is Seattle's only mobile bookstore that focuses on adult fiction by and about underrepresented voices. We'll be there with a carefully curated selection of new & used books, blind dates with a book, and bookish merch.

*A small number of books may be kept by Lost The Plot to resell as used books, helping support future community events. If you'd like to donate books to LTP directly, we'll offer a $2 credit per accepted book (good condition & fits our target curation strategy) towards your purchase, with a max of $10 off.
